I briefly can recall some of my first lessons as well. Geography was one of them, as I was confident that this was going to be my favourite subject and I would do well in it… years later I despise it and ended up failing. Started with Mr Barker (I think) and ended with him. The Geography teacher I had the most through the years was Mr Bootherstone. Enough said really, what an amazing man… I also remember my first Science lesson as we were going through ‘safety in labs’ with Mr O’Donahue (I’m sure he pushed a year 7 today). He pretended to pour acid over himself, which was just water with purple colouring, and asked for a volunteer to prove why you shouldn’t sit down when doing an experiment, which I did and think I made a fool of myself somehow for being too eager to move out of the way of falling equipment. Fun times.

Anywho enough reminiscing for now. Even though I’ve have had good times I can’t wait to leave. Ever since I came back I just realised how some people are just complete and utter self-involved morons. The kind of people who slap you in the face for no reason. The kind of people who show off their Apple Mac/Ipad as if it’s the most important invention in the history of the world. The kind of people who think popularity is paramount. The school is too much of a mix of upper-middle class jocks type people and chavvy dicks. Admittedly this is mostly a stereotype of my general opinion of the school and there are people who I can get on with outside of my friend group but others I’ve tried to get on with and just can’t or just know I’ll end up hating myself for even trying. University, if I get in, I hope will be different but ya never know… Well thats my not important mini rant for this week.

In other news I got Klaxons tickets for my birthday which I didn’t expect. I was thinking about booking tickets beforehand as well but found out I didn’t need to now. Looking forward to it, will need to buy the new album with some of my birthday money. From what I’ve heard of it so far it will be no match for their first record, which I really do love, and it will be great to see them again. The first time was when I saw Blur at the MEN last year as they were support alongside Florence And the Machine. They’ve most likely matured as a live piece since then and I’m expecting it to be just as fun as the first time. The gigs in Manchester again and is 4 days before I go to the Hot Chip/LCD Soundystem show. Will busy round those dates then…

At the moment I’ve been watching Alan Davies Teenage Revolution on Channel 4 which has been extremely interesting. It really gives a unique view into 80′s Britain with Thatcher and all that malarkey. It’s always great to see the music from that decade relived as well. While watching it I started to think our teenage years so far are going to look a lot less iconic then of the 60′s and 80′s. Nothing really sticks out as revolutionary in the 2000′s. I can only think of technological advances that have shaped culture and society in this decade. There’s no rebellion from anyone any more, such as Hippie’s and the more extreme Punk movement. But maybe there’s nothing to rebel against today? So maybe it’s a good thing there’s no ’revolution’?. But still, I would of loved to have thought that I grew up in time where everything was exciting and surprising, and people were carefree and less scared of everything they read in the newspapers. It’s most likely down to living in a small little town in Cheshire, not some big ass city. The iconic years of my life could still happen I guess and appear at any second. Who know’s, the Conservatives are back in power…

Talking of revolutions (though this band sing about it on a more worldwide and war-like scale…) my favourite track at the moment is ‘It’s Not War (Just The End Of Love)’ by the Manic Street Preachers. I wasn’t a massive a fan of it when I first heard it, but its grown on me signficantly. Anyway here’s the video featuring Michael Sheen.

As I’ve said I’m back at school now. This is a mix of ‘AHHHH!’ and ‘UGHHHH’. It’s mostly ‘AHHHH!’ because of all this UCAS stuff we have go to through. This started off with coming in on a Friday to go through writing a personal statement. Why does the school expertise in being shit? I mean, seriously why did we have to come in for a 30 second meeting on a Thursday and then have off timetable stuff on a Friday. Surely the school week starts on a Monday. Its like an athlete deciding to start 10m in front of the rest of the other runners. Well in my eyes anyway… So that was about 2 weeks ago and I’m well under the way of being back at school. Which explains the ‘UGHHHH’ part. Especially with the new joint boys school and girl school timetable, which is possibly the worst decision since Steve Irwin deciding to go looking for sting-rays. The traffic has increased by a gazillion and a half, and thats not just car traffic. Its also increased the more important walking traffic *raises fist*. All those annoying chavvy year 7-11′s who are complete moron’s are even worse  then before now that there’s chavettes for them to walk with and show off too. Thank god I have more free’s at the end of the day now. Can stroll home listening to music without some kid walking at snail’s pace doing sex noises.

In other news I’ve been job hunting and managed to get myself a group interview at Waitrose. Had my friend Greg in the same one as well as woman who lives in my street. Was pretty weird competeting for a job with a neighbour who’s kids I used to play with when I was younger.  It went pretty good to me with their ‘personality seeking’ questions they ask of you. I said the product that best described me was Dragonfruit and if I had one wish I’d wish for a teleporter… yeah they rejected me, still was fun in a odd way. Guess it’s confidence boosting for the future, but for now I’ll search other horizons.

Due to the Waitrose interview I ended up getting rid of lots of facebook photo’s etc because of them possibly searching all over profile to make sure I’m not some sexist drug addict terrorist. After untagging the pictures of me beating my wife with an AK47 whilst high on weed (in case future employers read this I’m not what was just described) I realised how many people on facebook I don’t know or don’t want to know. So I ended up going through some sort of Stalinist purge on my ‘friends list’ and deleted about 130 ‘friends’. It’s pathetic really, I should do a Dan and get rid of it completley.

Elsewhere with what’s happened in the last two weeks is the The XX winning the Mercury Prize which you can’t really argue about. Well done to them, the album is was pretty amazing, it stood out in a way to the others with its awesome production and romantic dark feel. I think what I liked most about it is the cross over vocals of Romy and Oliver, they both have great voices. In terms of the band I’m hoping to get some practices sorted and still holding on hope in some shape or form of recording in the October half-term. I think as a band were pretty perfectionist but the main problems are finding time as well as needing a drum machine.

I also booked tickets to see a joint headline gig of LCD Soundsystem and Hot Chip at Manchester Apollo in November which will be awesome with it potentially being one of LCD Soundsystem’s last live shows. I saw both acts at Glastonbury and they were incredibly enjoyable, such fantastic music to dance to. Hoping to have some more gig’s in the winter period but that could depend on if I have a job or not… So I thought I end with my favourite Hot Chip track at the moment called ‘Hold On’ from their third album Made In the Dark

MR EMA BONUS – where are ya’s? Mrs Booth’s said shes waiting for the ‘authority’ to sort out whether we can have it… Its meant to be an xmas bonus i heard, so this makes me wonder two things:

1) If its an xmas bonus, surely we should of got it on Jesus’s very own birthday ?

2) If its for crimbo, is Santa the authority that Mrs Booth is talking about…

Someone will probs tell me its not an xmas bonus, ah well a woman can dream… ooooopss mistake there !… i meant, a girl can dream…

BARCELONA – Its only a month away now ! Can’t wait for it, should be pretty epic. Well i’m in room with Greg, Jake and Jaymo so maybe not… Need to start learning some spanish phrases that don’t consist of asking where Chatwins is (fingers crossed their some sort of spanish version…) and insulting local peoples mothers, otherwise I’ll end up lost in some bullring. Will hopefully find a gig to go to, will be weird some spanish band… appro Spandau Ballet play Barca the week before were there, we just missed out. Now that would of been awesome…

GIGS – I need to go one. Haven’t been one since The Cribs in December and they were awesome live… hopefully they’ll play Glastonbury. But i’m having withdrawal symptomns from live music. I miss everything ! The journey down there on the train or bus and getting to the city… got lost in Birmingham last time, its massive city and when there’s helicopters flying about everywhere and two music academies you can’t help but wonder where you are… So the most likely one I’ll go is this Friday, which is Los Campesino’s at O2 academy Liverpool. I love liverpool, half my families from there LIKE so i’m half -scouse MATE…

Anyway those last two points seem to have issues where I got lost… so my next point

LOST – Watched the new series. Was immense. Don’t watch much tv really, but i’ve gone all nerdy over this show recently…

HALF-TERM – I’m sure most people, like me, are just happy its here… got some stuff going on, one of which is band practice. Controversy at the Winter Olympics started well, we’ve got a song being written and I’ve added some lyrics to it. Also did a cover of Who Can Say by The Horrors, and also tried to do a cover of Don’t Stop Believing… we shouldn’t of bothered. Next time we practice we’ll finish off the first song, and will trying writing a pop song, as well as a cover of 99 Problems by Jay-z… should be interesting

GRATED CHEESE PACKETS – Why are they so damn hard to open. Seriously, I mustn’t be the only one. Why the need for some Cal-pol like safety cap thingy majig on them. If young children go in the cupboard and eat loads of cheese, apart from getting fat, what harm does it do? I’d reckon that baby had a wail of a time… but then again I can never be bothered to find scissors to open the packet, might be why it happens to me…

TRI-PODS -  Good fun to use in Media, one hell of bitch to carry round though… still my Spaced like brain will always pretend its some sort of bazooka or rocket launcher when I put in on my shoulder. Also got laughs out of it when pretending to film with no camera, and telling people to stop while we ‘film’. Some people actually fell for it… me, Banksy and Jaymo had them fooled

CHERYL COLE – Enough said. Get out of my life. Don’t think I can last seeing her on the TV in the common room again, with 50 sexist lads staring at her with mouths dropped down the to the floor…

Ahhhhh the killers,  the band with with so much fucked up lyrics that Rab C Nesbitt sounds like Shakespeare. But then again i do love them, but that was until the lastest record. The Day and Age album. Oh how i expected something as good as they have been in the past, and i know they were bigger enough to ‘experiment’ with their sound, but this was an unfair test due to the human error in the experiment, the christian-anglophile-petsshopboysoverthesmithsworshipper Brandon Flowers. Now i know a lot of bands of lryics that make no sense, but this was rather crossing the line, in fact the line was so far crossed its mostly likely a dot to the line crosser in question. The music was ok, very quirky nothing wrong with it, but it didnt nothing to me, and i think thats why i dont like the album… because the music didnt interest me i listened to the lryics more and yeah… Ah well theres so much worse out there, and i still will love this band forever, just need to see them live one day

I guess thats where i’m leading into this blog. No I wont be talking about the difference in price between Asda and Tesco in terms of bread, but the generally stupidity in the world such as things like adverts etc. ( I mean have you seen the go compare advert, maaaaan thats shocking ). The main stupidity i’m taking about is the whole ‘ Oh my god my friends bad mouthed me, my lifes ruined’  malarkey. The kinda people who put it in their facebook statuses and just want to be loved. Please grow up. Your lifes arent that bad, especially when you look around the world. Its just selfish… anyway thats my ‘grumpy old man grumble’ for this week, now for better things

The better thing I’m taking about is yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay its the last week of school, now to get ready for the 2 weeks off which will be full of turkey, mince pies, family arguements and tv one offs. The time of year when you dont know what the date is, which is good because then you can laze around in the snow and go out too parties without caring what your heads gonna be like for the next day. But best of all is the whole reviews of the year thing, when you look back and say ‘that year went so fast, that was unbelieveable’… its the same every year but you still say it… ah well

Anyway i hope some one reads this and takes some of joy or advice from it, or maybe even goes out and buys a bagel

After finally leaving my recently brought new guitar, I managed to get ready and was off out to Haslington to go to Jim’s… after much delibaration over what bus we should get to Hanley, where the gig was at, we ended up going his house. Whilst there we played on the wii, and after loads of rallies between me and Jim, he beat me in straight seats as he did with Dan and Kinge…

Just before leaving the house we heard that magical noise… you know the one… THE ICE CREAM VAN. As if we were children mine, Kinge and Dans face’s lit up as if it were Christmas. When being turned down for a nobbly bobbly ( ‘I would give you if I could lad ‘ slightly worrying quite from the ice cream man there… ) I managed to get a 99 with a flake, yum yum!

Finally we got the bus and were on the way to Hanley… Thinking we were late we actually got there half an hour early, and quicky recieved free stuff which we just dumped anyway. Also whilst queueing I got comments of a girl about Love Will Tear Us Apart – Joy Division shirt and Kinge met some of his other friends…

The doors then opened, and we were in… Kinge then introduced us to his friends, and everyone was set about ready for an amazing night. The four bands we saw were Yes Giantess, Local Natives, Marina and The Diamonds and Golden Silvers…all of whom were immense and the crown jumping

By the end of the electric atmosphere, I was completely shattered but still managed to buy the Yes Giantess CD – this was great, the lead singer sold it to me in a great American accent ‘Hey man, what can I get ya?’ The CD was £2, yet he could only give me £2 pound change from my fiver ‘I’m so sorry man..’ I also got a picture with Marina, who Dan seemed to be infactuated with

Was a really good night, and made new friends, but I best be off now, have history homework… much joy…

This blog is very much thanking people, and the first person Ryan for hosting such a good party last night. The next is for the glasto goer’s next year, can’t wait to spend a weekend of my life listining to music with some of my fav people in the world

Now all the soppy shit is over, lets get to business… MUUUUUUSSSSSEEEEE, BARRRRRCCAAAA AND GLASTOOOOOO

First off, MUSE, in November… well what can I say… going to see my second best band of all time, and one of the best live acts in the world to have graced any stage… I think that ‘says’ it

Then Barca with school… I’m very lucky to be going on this since I couldn’t have paid it for myself, otherwise I couldn’t go glasto, but my parents being fair ( who paid for my sisters year 9 trip to Barca ) are going to be paying it. Further thanks to them…

Next glasto…  just put a deposit on the tickets this morning… full of drama as well, especially for one certain person…..he know’s who he is, but after all that we hopefully will be going to the greatest festival on earth…

So thats pretty much the biggest upcoming events in my life atm, I have other ones but you’ll find about them soon enough

On a cold and drizzly night in Sandbach I ended up playing American football on our school field. But that wasn’t the best thing…

The ball was lying there, and Greg was a good 5 metres away… and the ball was near my foot… and… well I kicked it… now remember this is an American football, not a ‘soccer’ ball I managed to curl it and whack Greg right on the back of the head… Seriously is the best shot of anything I have ever done

Anyway before that Greg ( thanks for being a good sport ) let us in to see the new Fifa 10. I really didnt think I would like it, but has Pad said…  ’fifa 10 consumed us’. Eventually after a tense game of Crewe vs Macc ( 2-0 to the Alex ) we went out and got Nat Barnes out. Drinking and singing The Smiths, of course Nathan did as well… we went and met up with some others…

Not much else happened really… just got into to watch channel four plus one and saw Derren Brown fail, now peep show eating choc fingers… what more could you want
